Are you planning to explore Uganda? It is never late, Uganda is the “Pearl of Africa” and before tourists to Uganda used to take the escorted and guided tours. But today with the new modifications in the tourism industry various safari companies have taken a new service idea of offering 4×4 jeeps suitable for the self-drive holidays across Uganda.
Whoever is planning to explore Uganda on self drive experience always think of the 4×4 rooftop tent jeep to rent from the so many car rental agencies. From 24th December 2021 to 08th January 2022 we rented a rooftop tent car from 4×4 Car Hire Uganda and we managed to coverer up various parts of the country with this jeep fully equipped with the 2 spare tires, tools and then with the 4.0-liter fridge and this was so amazing as very time we relaxed in the wilderness we could take our cold club beer made in Uganda.
When we arrived at Entebbe International Airport we met with Moses with the car and he smartly and detailed explained to us that we wanted to know about the car before we proceed with our 36 days rental. What amused me that he offered every camping item with the checklist for proper protection of the very item offered. Later on, we drove to the Entebbe Victoria Mall for our shopping and after we drove to Via Via Guest House where we had our first night in Uganda.
Moses briefed us that after a week we check on the water level of the radiator and we did this situate away on our second day and we found the water normal and after we drove to the Jinja city and this is so much know as the biggest tourism town with so many attractions and activities. In our communication with Moses, we talked about the Nile River Explorer which Moses recommended to be so nice and with our map we found it just at the former Bujagali falls point and with our rooftop tent vehicle we stayed at this nice eco-friendly camp at the shores of River Nile.
While at this camp you can get caught up with so many interesting activities to experience like water rafting, kayaking, water sliding among others. Though our budget was exclusive of any of these activities, Emma from this camp recommended us a visit to the Busowoko falls and from here you relax to the extent that you go into the water and you get washed and after we drove back to the camp and relaxed our evening preparing our dinner. Thanks to Moses and Emma who made our stay in Jinja so amazing and relaxing.
After we continued our trip to Mbale and here our highlight was the Sipi falls which we felt amazing and here we met with local guide Peter and he was so informative about the area and from his experience we managed to recommend him to Moses’ company such that every traveler to this place is taken into deep of the attractions here.
Peter being son of the area he took us around the village though it is village with low income earning resources but still people of this area looks to be hard working and we managed to go to some of the areas deeply involved in coffee and we took participated in this experience and tried to harvest the ready coffee beans from the trees and later we did the coffee roasting and later we tasted it in the cups and it was really amazing experience that I would recommend everyone visiting the area to enjoy.
Thereafter, being filled with the Mbale experience we again had to continue our journey towards the Karamoja region where culture and landscapes are so amazing. On our way to Moroto town we took an en-route visit to the Pian Upe reserve and it is awesome visiting, the wildlife, birds and landscapes are much rewarding. From our short drive we spotted many and later we continued to Moroto and here we had our stop at the Kara-tunga camp and it is nice as it is interesting to us camping and the luxury tourists in the area.
Though Moses’ company do the best car rental services in Uganda but still he offers the very luxury Uganda safaris because upon arrival at this camp we found some of his Land cruisers with giants from America and they were preparing to go into the villages to experience the culture and when his guide spotted their company car, we moved in a convey and the cultural experience was so amazing from the company guide and local guide both explaining from their long vast knowledge of the culture.
As the other group was driving straight to Kidepo Valley National Park we took more extra days in the area trying to fully get involved in the culture of the area. Still with another guide from the camp we visited the big village “Nakapelimuro” and whoever looking for cultural trip in Uganda just contact Moses though on his What’sapp number +256-751-915-622 or email and his will suitably customize for you the best experience.
It is from this area you will experience the different food stuffs and from here I first saw child taking blood and from Mama Dan we enjoyed the local meal of chicken mixed up with beans and rice.
Visit to the Kidepo Valley National Park and the rooftop tent camping at the Kidepo Savannah Lodge was so amazing and this was recommended again by Moses and from his good mutual working relationship with this camp they looked after us so well. Evening game drives was so interesting and, on this drive, we managed to spot some of the cats and other wildlife.
Dawn game drive in the park is so amazing and to fully explore Kidepo you are required to go with the game ranger and this so advisable as during rainy season in this region water flooding can happen any time possible and if you are alone in the truck, you can easily get stuck. But the park ranger it is much possible to find alternative route back to the campsite.
Thereafter being filled with whole what the park offers in details we drove to Murchison Falls National Park and still from here we had interesting game drives spotting more African big5 and other wildlife and birds. Wow what an amazing boat cruise along the shores of River Nile towards to the bottom of the falls or the delta. The boat cruise to the bottom offers the scenic view of the wildlife, birds and undulating landscapes and the cruise to the delta offers the spot of the rare shoe bill stork.
