4×4 Rooftop Tent Car Rental Uganda

It is now 4 years back when my wife and I visited Uganda and during that time we wanted to go camping in most of the safari parks. But during our safari holiday driving across Uganda, we enjoyed and every where we reached, we found Ugandans so happy and welcoming seeing us in their areas.

By that time of our travel, it was the SUV vehicles like 4×4 Rav4 that was so common, popular and suitable to hire. We rented the 05 door 4×4 Rav4 and it managed to take us around Uganda following our designed route.

We begun our route from the eastern region that is from Jinja where we had nice time visiting most of the interesting places in the area and we managed to do some of the activities like the white-water rafting and boat cruise along the River Nile from the Nile River Explorer.

Thereafter, we continued our route to the Mount Elgon and the Sipi Falls and here it is amazing and worthy visiting the place. The undulating landscape will leave you wondering and the local activities to take include the coffee tour and so many activities to can involve in while in this place.

What was so amazing on our trip every day was another special and this was so that every morning our 4×4 jeep was ready to go. Whenever my wife started the vehicle, it was one key start and we never found any problem with it.

From the Sipi falls experience we continued our journey to Moroto and en-route we visited the interesting safari reserve “Pian Upe” that Moses mentioned while briefing us about the interesting places to visit. We took short excursion visit to this reserve and when you enter into the reserve you find another life as it offers most rare and interesting animals, birds, butterflies and then the undulating green cover winding landscapes.

Thereafter, we drove to Kara-tunga Camp and here we found Land Cruiser V8 and it was installed on top the rooftop tent, this took much of my time wondering how these travelers managed to hire this jeep. But later we found this 4×4 jeep from Southern Africa region and particularly from Namibia.

It was so interesting and from we managed to drive following these travelers and in Kidepo Valley National Park we camped in Kakine Camp and we spent all evening seeing them setting up their tent and we had to fall in the love of the jeep and rooftop tent.

Straight away my wife contacted Moses our service provider whether within 2 days we can have the same jeep with the rooftop tent. And Moses’ response was like in our fleet we don’t have such jeep with rooftop tent and he later stated that the vehicles you see in parks customized that way are from the southern part of Africa.

We had to cool down and continue with our jeep and the ground camping and what was so interesting is that the vehicle and camping items were all perfect.

Later we continued our journey to Murchison Falls National Park where we enjoyed the game drives and the boat ride along the shores of the River Nile. From here we return to Kampala via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for the Rhino Tracking and then lunch, drive back to Entebbe and return back our home.

Again, later we wanted to come back to Uganda and this time we asked Moses if he has the rooftop tent jeep that we missed last time and the answer was yes, we have them now in our fleet. We started preparing the holiday again with Moses such that we can finish up our route that we had ended up in Murchison Falls National Park.

This time we were coming in group of 04 people and we wanted to take the 4×4 jeep with the double or 02 rooftop tent and Moses advised us to take the Land Cruiser V8 that is suitable to carry the 02 tents and all the camping gears and fridge that we can use to cool our drinks and some of the early perishable food and fruits.

The price of the 4×4 jeep with rooftop tents was so affordable from Moses compared to what other car rental agencies publish online and what is so perfect with Moses he supplies all whatever is requested on the trip. The payment method is so flexible as you do it CASH upon arrival and the jeep always delivered at free cost to your location on time.

Upon our arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Moses was already on the arrival point with the placard with my names and find him it was so easy and Moses was so welcoming seeing again the second time, helped pushing our bags straight to the vehicle and reaching to it I felt happy seeing big car and excited to take us around Uganda for the 21 days.

Not wasting time Moses did a very interesting and informative briefing about the jeep and the setting up and down the tent which we were supposed to every evening and morning. Showed us how and when to put on the fridge since it is powered by the car battery.

Since our arrival was a bit late and we took some time briefing we had to change our program on the first day and with the help of Moses we managed to find a very affordable hotel to stay in Entebbe. Through Moses we booked 2 rooms at Cycads Guest House – Entebbe and then in the next day early morning started our journey to Murchison Falls National Park with the visit to Budongo Forest for a nature walk and then we drove to the Red Hill Camp for an overnight stay on top of our jeep in our rooftop tents.

We had enough time to enjoy what Murchison Falls National Park offers and we began with endless game drives visiting various designed tracks and we managed to spot the rare wildlife like the Lions, Leopards and much more like the giraffes, elephants and various antelopes. After the game drive we took the interesting boat ride along the shore of the River Nile towards the bottom of the River Nile and while at this point you will enjoy the stunning view of the River flowing through the rock gorge towards the delta.

Thereafter, continue the journey via the Lake Albert escarpments to Kibale Forest National Park and here interesting enjoy the chimpanzee trekking that we did the previous day with our permits that we booked in advance via Moses. Then in the evening visit the Bigodi wetland and look for rare bird species in Uganda and much more primates.

After being filled with the primates in the Kibale Forest National Park we took leisurely and scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and upon arrival go for the interesting boat ride along the Kazinga Channel and on this boat ride you will spot high population of wildlife at the banks of the Channel that connects Ramsar Lake George into Lake Edward.

Thereafter, with our 4×4 rooftop tent jeep stayed at the Mweya Hostel campsite and within short period of time we managed to set our tent and after prepared our dinner and with the campfire in the place we enjoyed the campsite. Today, early in the morning drive to the Kasenyi mating ground looking for the early riser animals and much more and thereafter return to the camp and prepare our eats and then proceed to the Ishasha Southern Sector and upon arrival take low speed drive looking for the African tree climbing lions in the branches of the fig trees.

Proceed to the Ishasha campsite and it being situated at the shores of River Ntungwe we had cool relaxation after the full day driving. Then in the morning we took more game drive looking for more big cats and other wildlife.

Return to the camp for the breakfast and then in afternoon as on our way to Bwindi we took more game drive looking for the tree climbing lions and from all these game drives we were so lucky and spot them just hanging in the branches of the tree.

Limited by the time but we never wanted to leave this sight and we used our time and we took as many photos as we wanted for the memories and to show to our other family members as this experience was one of our wish lists to spot these interesting animals hanging in the trees.

Later after this incredible experience we had to drive again to Bwindi Forest National Park and we went straight to Buhoma sector where our permits belonged and we stayed one night at the Buhoma Rest Camp….

Ready with our gorilla trekking permits transferred to the Bwindi – Buhoma head offices for the briefing about the great apes and the park. Here we were allocated to our gorilla family “Habinyanja” and in the group of 08 people and our rangers and porters entered into the park hiking to the last destination where the apes were left the previous day.

Reaching this point start tracking the footsteps of the gorillas and in like 01-hour we found them and reaching the territory of the gorillas you have to respect that there is the silver back the head of the group.

Take the unforgettable photos and videos and make sure you remove the flash and after the 01-hour allowed to stay with the gorillas we had to trek back from the gorillas and we found relaxing point to take our snacks.

Return to the park head offices for the our gorilla trekking certificates and then walk back to the campsite and being tired after this adventure we had our lunch at the campsite restaurant and thereafter in the evening drive down to the Lake Bunyonyi and our way we took so many stopover taking interesting photos of the undulating landscapes and staying at the Lake Bunyonyi Overland campsite is so amazing as it is just situated at the shores of the Lake and overlooking the Lake in our rooftop tent at night was so nice.

We took some good times relaxing at the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and we experienced activities like the boat ride along the shores of the Lake visiting the beautiful dotted islands and experience the Batwa cultural dance performances.

Thereafter through the Lake Mburo National Park we concluded our self-drive safari in Uganda with the 4×4 rooftop tent jeep in excitement. We therefore, recommend anyone visiting Uganda to book with 4×4 Car Hire Uganda and the service is exceptional, worthy and value for money.
